Quick answer
An APN tells the phone how to reach the mobile-data network. Leave automatically configured settings in place unless your eSIM setup instructions provide a specific value.
Check the basics first
The installed profile is usually called Webbing in your phone’s settings. If you renamed it, use your chosen name. Select this line for mobile data and turn Data Roaming on for this line when you are ready to connect at your destination.
Open Bundles and refresh to check destination coverage, allowance and expiry. Test a simple webpage with Wi-Fi and VPN off. If the phone shows No Service, resolve network registration first.
Find the APN settings
On iPhone, the APN may appear under Settings → Mobile Service / Cellular / Mobile Data → the eSIM line → Mobile Data Network / Cellular Data Network. Some carrier profiles hide this option.
On Android, look under the selected SIM’s Mobile network → Access Point Names. Samsung and Pixel menu names differ. Make sure you are editing the travel line, not your home SIM.
Enter the APN supplied for your eSIM
- Record the current settings before changing them.
- Enter the exact APN supplied for your eSIM. Leave username/password or other fields unchanged unless instructed.
- Save and select the APN if your phone requires it.
- Toggle airplane mode briefly, wait for registration and test mobile browsing with VPN off.
Avoid common APN mistakes
Do not copy a local SIM operator’s APN from an unrelated guide or guess a value. An APN cannot add data to an expired/depleted bundle or make an unsupported device compatible.
Start with the data-line, roaming and bundle checks above. A full network reset also clears saved Wi-Fi/VPN settings, so try the individual settings first.
If the APN is missing or locked
If the APN menu is unavailable, keep the automatically configured settings. Check the data line, roaming, coverage and remaining data using the mobile-data guide below.
Common questions
Do I always need a manual APN?
No. Keep automatic settings unless your eSIM setup instructions specify a change.
Why is there no APN menu on my iPhone?
The profile may manage APN settings automatically, so the menu is hidden. Leave those settings in place and check the selected data line, roaming and bundle status instead.
